In the previous report《Desire Isn’t A Sin! Ph.D. in Theology University of Oxford, Alex Tseng: Adequate Desire Is Motivation!》Alex Tseng, Ph.D. in Theology, University of Oxford, Professor in ZJU, REM Academic Consultant, mentioned how to promote the economy with desire.
How influential is religion? According to history, it has even governed a country, and now it still has a strong influence on society. Today Alex will share with readers of 《The Icons》 how religion can create a better world with ESG.
Decide the investment with the name of God
“Faith-based investment” doesn’t mean investors buy securities from religious groups, but that they restrict or determine investment according to their own beliefs. For example, Christianity will not invest in industries that support embryonic stem cell research, while Islam will avoid investment in the pork or sex industry.
“Most religions focus on benefiting the world, so what is the best investment target other than religious constraints? That is ESG!”
Alex Tseng mentioned good companies will protect the environment while promoting the global economy; bad companies will harm the environment in pursuit of profits. Faith-based investment has become the best constraint.
“In addition to prohibited industries, investors pay more attention to the ‘morality’ and ‘social responsibility’ of the company, so they will choose the companies based on their ESG.”
“Through moral restraint, companies that fulfill ESG will grow stronger. This will not only promote the development of good companies, but also protect the future of the earth.”
