The future of shopping is coming, and companies like Deepixel are leading the way with their cutting-edge technology.
South Korean tech company Deepixel specializes in computer vision and artificial intelligence. They have developed a unique platform that allows users to try on clothes virtually using their mobile device, StyleAR, utilizing augmented reality technology to provide customers with a seamless and accurate virtual shopping experience.
“I found it difficult to make decisions when shopping online because I couldn’t try the clothes on beforehand,” Deepixel CEO Jehoon Lee explained. “I thought, why not create a solution that would allow customers to try clothes on virtually from the comfort of their own homes?”
One of the unique features of StyleAR is its ability to accurately replicate the texture and physics of clothing. “We use advanced algorithms to ensure that the virtual clothing moves and behaves like real clothing,” Lee explained. “Customers can see how the fabric drapes and moves as they move, which provides a much more realistic experience.”
The platform also provides customers with a range of customization options. Customers can adjust the fit of the clothing, change the color, and add accessories to see how they would look in the outfit, helping customers make more informed purchasing decisions and reduces the likelihood of returns.
Lee emphasized StyleAR is not meant to replace traditional shopping entirely, but rather to enhance it. “We believe that virtual try-on can help bridge the gap between online and in-person shopping,” he said. “Customers can use the platform to narrow down their choices before visiting a physical store to make a final decision.”
“We believe that virtual try-on can be applied to other industries such as cosmetics, furniture, and even cars,” he said. “The possibilities are endless, and we’re excited to see where this technology can take us.”
With its potential to reduce waste and improve sustainability in the fashion industry, StyleAR connects with the United Nations’ Sustainable Development Goals, specifically Goal 12: Responsible Consumption and Production.
