Flora Chang, as the Director and Chief Sustainability Officer of YESIANG Enterprise, exemplifies the seamless integration of technical expertise with sustainable innovation. Her career began in materials engineering, focusing on green engineering and waste reduction in industrial processes, and she later translated this knowledge into practical solutions within the semiconductor industry. By joining YESIANG Enterprise in 2007, Flora embarked on an extraordinary journey of combining innovation with sustainability, partnering with Chairman and CEO James Chuang to shape the company’s strategic blueprint. At the time, YESIANG was transitioning from traditional industrial manufacturing to catering specifically to semiconductor clients, marking the beginning of a new era of growth.

Amid the rising global awareness of environmental sustainability, Flora identified the potential of the circular economy and introduced eco-conscious filter design concepts emphasizing waste reduction and recyclability throughout the product lifecycle. Collaborating closely with her team, she spearheaded the development of the industry’s first recyclable filter, meeting the dual demands for performance and environmental responsibility from high-tech clients. This innovation solidified YESIANG’s position in an intensely competitive market.

Flora attributes the company’s transformation and growth to the team’s unwavering commitment to technological innovation and sustainable principles. She explains, “We started from scratch, embedding sustainability into our product design despite limited resources. Every challenge we overcame reinforced that the synergy between technical expertise and environmental stewardship can deliver exceptional value to the industry.”

Under Flora’s leadership, YESIANG has not only prioritized technical advancements and embedded ESG principles into its corporate culture. The team integrates carbon reduction and waste minimization into every aspect of product design and manufacturing processes, ensuring that each innovation positively impacts the environment. “We believe sustainability is more than a market trend; it’s a responsibility toward the environment and society. This belief drives our progress,” Flora states.

Over the years, YESIANG has grown from a small enterprise into a global leader in sustainability, establishing itself as an indispensable player in the international semiconductor supply chain.

From Supply Chain to Global Market: Extending Value

In an exclusive interview, Flora Chang shared her insights and practices regarding YESIANG Enterprise’s commitment to sustainability. She emphasized that the company’s sustainability strategy stems from a profound understanding of balancing environmental needs with industrial demands. According to Chang, sustainability is not merely a market trend but a responsibility and mission. Against the backdrop of rapid global semiconductor industry growth, YESIANG has developed core strategies for carbon reduction and waste minimization. From product design to manufacturing processes, the company meticulously evaluates each stage’s carbon emissions and actively implements the principles of a circular economy.

For example, YESIANG developed the world’s first carbon-neutral chemical filter. Utilizing innovative regenerative filter technology, the company has significantly reduced its carbon footprint across the product lifecycle and achieved an impressive 95% filter recycling rate. This groundbreaking technology not only meets international market expectations for sustainable products but also adds new value to the entire supply chain.

“We aim to bring positive change to industry carbon emissions through regenerative filter technology, making each product lifecycle more valuable,” Chang shared in the interview. She highlighted YESIANG’s mission to transform the global supply chain by embedding circular economy principles into the core of its operations, leveraging product and technological innovations.

Through its pioneering technologies, YESIANG has successfully placed Taiwan’s manufacturing sector on the global stage as a key driver of the circular economy. Their filter products are widely used in major markets such as the United States, Japan, Singapore, and China, where they have forged strong partnerships with local companies. By exporting technology and engaging in joint development projects, YESIANG continues to enhance its global competitiveness. Recently, YESIANG has collaborated with environmental technology firms in Germany and Japan to develop filter products tailored to diverse environmental needs, further expanding the scope of its technological applications.

Chang stated that YESIANG is committed to maintaining a humble and open attitude while partnering with more international stakeholders to drive innovation and sustainable development. Looking ahead, the company will continue to focus on technological advancements and circular economy initiatives, contributing to global sustainability with greater impact.

Green and Digital Dual Transformation: The Integration of Technology and Sustainability

YESIANG Enterprise was selected as Taiwan’s representative company by Taiwan’s Ministry of Economic Affairs in 2024, It implements a dual transformation strategy inspired by the European Union’s “Twin Transition” concept. This strategy integrates green and digital innovations, redefining the role of traditional manufacturing within the circular economy and setting a benchmark for Taiwan’s sustainable industrial transformation.

On the digital front, YESIANG has adopted a phased approach. In the first phase, the company established foundational infrastructure for Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) and Business Process Management (BPM) systems, enhancing internal transparency and operational efficiency. The second phase involved deploying Customer Relationship Management (CRM), Warehouse Management Systems (WMS), and Manufacturing Execution Systems (MES), significantly improving production and logistics data capabilities. Looking ahead, the third phase will focus on applying Business Intelligence (BI) and Artificial Intelligence (AI) to provide data-driven simulation and forecasting, supporting more scientific decision-making and strengthening the company’s competitive edge.

In terms of green transformation, YESIANG has achieved remarkable results. The company’s two regenerative manufacturing centers in Liuying, Tainan, not only serve as key production bases but also act as catalysts for advancing the circular economy. By leveraging cutting-edge technology, the company has achieved a 95% recycling rate for its filters, reducing carbon emissions by 86% with each reuse and maximizing resource efficiency and product sustainability. Furthermore, these centers have significantly reduced transportation-related carbon emissions and created substantial local employment opportunities, delivering environmental and social benefits.

“We aspire to be a green catalyst within the supply chain, driving upstream and downstream enterprises toward a sustainable future,” said Flora Chang. She firmly believes that integrating green and digital innovations is not only YESIANG’s core competitive advantage but also the optimal response to global climate change and market demands.

Embedding ESG Goals into Corporate Culture with Full Team Participation

Promoting sustainable development has never been easy, especially when faced with the high upfront costs involved. Businesses often grapple with the difficult trade-off between short-term benefits and long-term responsibilities. However, YESIANG Enterprise has struck the optimal balance between environmental accountability and economic profitability through technological innovation and streamlined internal management.

“Sustainability is not just a task for one department; it’s an integral part of the corporate culture. Only with the collective participation of all employees and supply chain partners can the concept of sustainability truly take root and create lasting impact,” says Flora Chang. To this end, YESIANG has established clear employee performance indicators (KPIs) that deeply embed ESG goals into the daily work of every employee. This ensures that each team member contributes tangibly to the company’s sustainability strategy. It also clarifies how their actions align with company objectives, fostering a sense of ownership and accountability. Furthermore, YESIANG provides internal training and resources to raise awareness of sustainability issues, encouraging employees to actively engage in energy-saving, emission-reduction, and resource optimization initiatives.

At the supply chain level, YESIANG focuses on building mutually beneficial partnerships with suppliers. The company actively provides technical support, helping suppliers identify opportunities for low-carbon transformation and assisting them in applying for relevant government subsidies to alleviate financial pressures. Additionally, YESIANG encourages suppliers to adopt digital management systems to enhance operational efficiency and transparency, creating a more robust foundation for the entire supply chain.

Despite the challenges of sustainable development, YESIANG Enterprise progresses with a steady and pragmatic approach. Flora Chang emphasizes that while the initial investment in sustainability might pose financial pressures, these efforts ultimately yield greater market competitiveness and brand value in the long term:

“Sustainability is about creating long-term value rather than sacrificing short-term gains. Only by embedding sustainability into every aspect of the enterprise can we ensure this journey is both enduring and impactful.”

Sustainable Future: Extending Corporate Responsibility Through Concrete Actions

Looking to the future, Flora Chang envisions YESIANG Enterprise not just as a company with remarkable achievements in environmental protection but as a driving force in advancing the global circular economy and sustainable development. She believes that the value of a corporation should surpass economic benefits, creating profound positive impacts on society and the environment through tangible actions.

YESIANG plans to focus on “shared societal good” as its core philosophy, outlining several initiatives. The company intends to collaborate with non-governmental organizations (NGOs) to jointly promote waste reutilization and environmental protection projects aimed at improving resource efficiency. Additionally, Flora Chang revealed plans to establish an educational foundation that will channel a portion of the company’s profits into supporting education for underprivileged children and promoting mental health, providing opportunities for their growth and development.

“True sustainable development must encompass environmental, social, and governance (ESG) domains. This is not only a corporate commitment to the future but also a responsibility to society,” Chang stated. She emphasized that sustainability should not remain as mere rhetoric or policy but must be enacted through innovation and concrete measures that inspire other businesses and individuals to join this path.

She hopes YESIANG’s efforts will have an even broader impact on the global stage, providing a replicable model for other businesses—from the semiconductor supply chain to global sustainability innovation. By steadfastly advancing its initiatives, YESIANG aims to play a more proactive role in environmental and technological innovation, showcasing not only the capabilities of Taiwan’s manufacturing industry but also the company’s commitment to society and the environment:

“From developing regenerative filter technologies to building our regenerative manufacturing center in Tainan, every step we take aims to reshape the carbon footprint landscape of our industry. Sustainable development is a marathon, and YESIANG’s goal is to make this journey clearer and inspire more people to walk further with us.”
