Suntory Group was established in Osaka, Japan in 1899 as a family business. Not only does The Suntory Group provide whiskey, beer, and spirits, but also sells non-alcoholic beverages, coffee, tea, and water. At present, Suntory Group has developed into a multinational group with operations in America, Europe, Asia and Oceania.
Suntory Group not only has outstanding achievements in the business field, but also remains committed to community building and arts when it comes to corporate social responsibility. Besides, Suntory promises to promote the coexistence of people and nature, including the protection of water resources.
Suntory Group unveiled a new technology called LiDR (Liquid Drawing) for the Consumer Electronics Show (CES) in Las Vegas. 《The Icons》had the honor to interview this international company to learn more about its new product and the sense of mission behind it.
“Suntory believes that while staying true to our mission, we can grow together with nature.” Through LiDR skill, Suntory turns liquid into a canvas. LiDR is a technology that uses 3D technology to draw letters and illustrations using beverages as a canvas. Using this technology, Suntory can convey art and share innovations through beverages, making people’s drinking experience happier and saving water resources at the same time.
Suntory’s LiDR technology conforms to the 9th of the United Nations’ 17 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), “Industry, Innovation and Infrastructure”, by turning beverages into works of art; and the 14th, “Life below Water”, allowing people to more effectively protect the ocean by saving water.
