Each Person Wastes Around 100 Kilograms of Food Per Year. Nuvilab CEO Logan Kim: We Can Make Food Waste History

《The Icons》interviewed Logan Kim, the CEO of Nuvilab, a sustainable development supplier from South Korea, who unveiled a groundbreaking food waste monitoring system at the Consumer Electronics Show (CES) in Las Vegas.

The system aims to change the way companies manage their environmental, social, and governance (ESG) efforts by using cutting-edge technology and artificial intelligence to track and analyze food waste in real-time, providing actionable direction and recommendations to minimize waste and improve ESG performance.

According to United Nations statistics, one-third of all food produced worldwide is wasted. Food waste is a global problem that causes economic losses and environmental damage. Approximately 1.3 billion tons of food are wasted each year, equivalent to 8% of global greenhouse gas emissions. At the same time, millions of people suffer from hunger, malnutrition, and obesity.

Logan Kim mentioned that the food waste monitoring system provides a platform for businesses to measure their food waste across various operations, including production, distribution, and retail. “The system can also provide customized reports and data visualization tools to help businesses identify trends, set goals, and track progress.”

Nuvilab’s food waste monitoring system provides accurate information about food quality and quantity, helping consumers and businesses reduce food waste. The scanner can also provide personalized feedback and recommendations based on users’ food data, helping them manage their dietary habits and achieve their health goals.

“We believe that everyone has a role to play in solving the food waste problem. Whether you are a consumer, a producer, a retailer, or a policymaker, you can make a difference by using FWM or by adopting other food waste prevention practices. Together, we can make food waste history,” Kim said.
